{"id":627,"date":"2016-02-23T12:56:51","date_gmt":"2016-02-23T17:56:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.superiorfireworks.com\/blog\/?p=627"},"modified":"2016-05-24T15:10:30","modified_gmt":"2016-05-24T19:10:30","slug":"new-texas-fireworks-laws-for-2016","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.superiorfireworks.com\/blog\/2016\/02\/new-texas-fireworks-laws-for-2016\/","title":{"rendered":"New Texas Fireworks Laws for 2016"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>State lawmakers decided there needs to be more room in the calendar for Texas fireworks.<\/p>\n<p>New for 2016, state residents can buy\u00a0fireworks on Texas Independence Day (March 2), San Jacinto Day (April 21) and Memorial Day (May 30), in addition to New Year&#8217;s Day and July 4.<\/p>\n<h2>The Fine Print About the New Texas Fireworks Laws<\/h2>\n<p>The expansion of the fireworks calendar comes with a couple of\u00a0caveats, though:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Each county has final say on\u00a0whether to adopt these additional sales dates.<\/li>\n<li>The law doesn&#8217;t affect cities that\u00a0have year-round fireworks bans.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>When You Can Buy Fireworks for the New Dates<\/h2>\n<p>Texas&#8217; fireworks laws also specify when fireworks will be sold for these three new holidays:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Texas Independence Day &#8211;<\/strong> February 25 &#8211; March 2<\/li>\n<li><strong>San Jacinto Day &#8211;<\/strong> April 16 &#8211; April 21<\/li>\n<li><strong>Memorial Day &#8211;<\/strong> The Wednesday before the last Monday in May, ending at midnight on the last Monday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If you really want to get in the nuts and bolts of the law, you can <a href=\"http:\/\/www.statutes.legis.state.tx.us\/Docs\/OC\/htm\/OC.2154.htm#2154.202\" target=\"_blank\">click here to read the Texas fireworks code<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Important note:<\/strong> Along with the new regulations, lawmakers axed Texas&#8217; 2% fireworks tax.<\/p>\n<h2>Ready to Buy?
