Container Drop Ship Program

Take the Next Step Beyond Wholesale

Thank you for your interest in the container drop ship program from Superior Fireworks! We are excited to offer our best pricing on a fantastic selection of fireworks from SFX Fireworks and The Great American Fireworks Co. that will help you maximize profit and stand out from the competition.

This program allows you to buy full containers of our products that ship overseas from our warehouse in China directly to your location in the United States. Our team handles all the logistics, testing, insurance, and more to make the process as easy as possible.

What to expect

Our container program offers the lowest possible prices to retailers across the United States on direct import of our three brands: SFX Fireworks, SFX Show Line, and The Great American Fireworks Co.

From order to delivery, we manage the process for you

If this is your first time ordering a container of fireworks, the process can seem daunting, because there are a lot of moving parts to keep track of over a long period of time. The good news is that we manage the difficult parts and keep you in the loop from end-to-end, making it as simple as possible for your business. Leverage our licensing, insurance, supply chain, and team of experts so you can focus on sales!

Here's how it works:

  1. Request a container price list. We will provide a list of items available for order, along with stock levels if you need to order from on-hand inventory for immediate fulfillment.
  2. Submit your order. Once we receive your order, we'll work with our team in China to get it fulfilled. If your order is waiting for new production, we will keep track of schedules and let you know when everything should be ready.
  3. Pay for your fireworks, shipping, and duty. When inventory is available to ship, we'll send an invoice for up-front payment. Depending on the product mix, you can expect to pay about $45,000 for the fireworks and another $30,000 to cover shipping, duty, and brokerage fees. Shipping rates are set on a month-to-month basis, but can be around $20,000 depending on global supply chain factors. Duty and brokerage fees are invoiced as a percentage of the product invoice value, and includes current tariff rates. As of summer 2025, this combined rate is 33.5% of the product total. Note that we do not have any control over shipping or duty rates.
  4. Pay for drayage. Several weeks later, we will receive and pass along the final portion of the bill for drayage, which is the last leg of shipping from the port or rail yard to your location. This can be several thousand dollars depending on how far it needs to be transported.
  5. Take delivery of your container. Our team will work with you to schedule delivery of your container from the port or rail yard to your location. You will have a limited period of "free time" included in the cost of delivery, which is typically one or two hours. You will be billed for additional time to unload the container, so please plan your staffing accordingly.
  6. Sell! You're stocked up with incredible fireworks at the lowest possible cost, giving you better margins to help your business grow.
However, importing a container is not the right fit for every business.

At a minimum, we recommend:

  • Total annual sales equivalent to five containers of volume, whether imported or purchased at wholesale
  • Funds on hand to pay for your containers up front
  • A year-round storage location for your fireworks
  • Sufficient labor and equipment to unload a container within a week's notice, within a scheduled two-hour window

Additional Container Program Information
Multi-container discounts

We offer a 3% discount for customers ordering at least 3 containers within a container ordering season, which starts in July and runs through the following June.

Ordering from Stock Versus New Production

Orders can be placed from on-hand inventory in our China warehouse on a first-come, first-serve basis. Our team will provide a stock list for reference. It's important to note that in-stock inventory has must-ship dates based on customs certifications, so that often limits availability depending on when you are willing or able to accept the shipment.

You may also place a container order for products not currently in stock, or for more than is currently in stock. These orders will wait for new production, and our team will provide guidance on what to expect for your specific order as the production season progresses.

It's important to note that we cannot guarantee complete fulfillment of orders waiting for new production, and substitutions may be required.

Product Quantity Limitations

Container orders are subject to a 20-case minimum order per item and are limited to a maximum of 30 unique SKUs per container.

This avoids additional fees and ensures a higher fulfillment rate.

Container Capacity

All orders will be shipped on high-cube containers. You can expect to load roughly 68 CBMs on one high-cube container.

Container Import Fees

Freight, duty, testing, and insurance will be due prior to the container being released for delivery.

  • Approximate freight quotes can be given for reference before your order is placed, but exact freight charges will not be invoiced until your order is ready to ship. Freight charges are quoted FOB Liuyang.
  • Duty is invoiced at 33.5% of the product total. This fee includes a new 30% tariff on Chinese goods, which we’re applying at 27%. It also covers several other charges, such as customs brokerage.
  • Testing is $0.50 per case.
  • Insurance is $200 per container.

Delivery of containers must be taken within the allotted free time granted by the port or rail yard and unloaded within the allotted free time given by the delivering carrier. Any additional cost, such as demurrage, detention, or storage fees, will be billed to you.

Important Dates to Remember

Depending on the final delivery destination, shipments can take as long as two months to arrive from the time we request a booking for your container. This means orders for July 4th delivery should be finalized no later than April 15, and orders for New Year's delivery should be finalized no later than October 15.

That said, any orders placed close to those dates will have limited selection available. We recommend ordering as early as possible to we can reserve your inventory and secure a booking earlier in the season.

Payment Schedule

Once your order is placed, we will work with our warehouse team in China to confirm product availability to fill your container. Payment will then be due up front to cover the cost of the product, overseas shipping, duty, and brokerage fees.

Payment for drayage, the last leg of shipping from the port of rail yard to your location, will be due generally about a week before delivery. We will notify you as soon as those fees are finalized.

Additional fees may be billed after delivery for demurrage, detention, or storage, if applicable.

Payment Methods

Our preferred method of payment for container orders is ACH. Payments made with a credit card are subject to an additional 3% fee.

We do not offer credit terms at this time.

Import Product Holds

If the Consumer Product Safety Commission, US Coast Guard, US Department of Transportation, or any other government agency requests a hold on any products, you will be responsible for adhering to the requirements set forth by each government agency. In such an event, we will instruct you on how to proceed and what is required of you. If any product is put on hold by a government agency, you will be required to hold that product until you are given documentation that allows that product to be released into commerce.

If any product should fail inspection according to one of the government agencies, Superior Fireworks will be responsible for the cost of the merchandise and all associated cost pertaining to that particular product.

If any product that was placed on hold by a government agency is not present and available at the time of inspection, you will be responsible for any fines imposed by the government agency.
