Fireworks Production Delays in 2020

Fireworks Production Delays in 2020

Our Head of Product Development and Sourcing shares an important update about fireworks production for 2020.

Summary

On December 4, 2019, an accident at a fireworks factory in China led to the shutdown of all factories in Liuyang, China. Collectively, Liuyang factories produce more than half of all consumer fireworks for the US market.  This disruption will cause industry-wide supply shortages in early 2020.  Because of these delays, we wanted to give you a quick update about how this will affect product selection and availability heading into the spring fireworks season.

At this point, the Liuyang factories don’t have a definitive opening date.  They expect to resume production sometime in February after Chinese New Year. Though we currently have a few scheduled shipments, selection and availability during the next few months will still be a challenge. There is uncertainty about when factories will reopen, how quickly they can work through their backlogs, and when new shipments can be scheduled.

Here’s what you need to know as you prepare your carts and plan your shows.

Take advantage of our pre-order items

This season, we will only offer products for sale that have already been produced – we won’t offer pre-orders based on future production plans. Fireworks that were completed before the shutdown, or produced in other parts of China, will be available during our upcoming Early Ship Sale. These items are already in stock or will arrive by early March.

Shopping early is a must this season

This season, it’s more important than ever to order as early as possible this for the best chance of getting exactly what you want. Not only will you get additional savings during our Early Ship sale, but you’ll also get the widest selection of available products. If you have any questions about the status of specific items or the details of our Early Ship Sale this year, please give us a call or shoot us an email. We’re always happy to help and answer your questions.

Even with these challenges, we’re excited about the year ahead and appreciate your business with us at Superior Fireworks. Be sure to watch your inbox for more information on our Early Ship sale for wholesale fireworks, and follow us on Facebook and Instagram to stay up-to-date!

How does your early ship sale work? How much do you have to buy to qualify for the best deal?

      Hey Mark,

You get 10% off your qualifying $1,000 order through February 29, then the discount drops to 5% through April 30th. Your order must ship before April 30th. The Early Ship Sale stacks on volume discounts which begin at 10% for the $2,000 – $3,999 level – for example, you would get 20% off an order of $2,000 if you order in February. We’ll be releasing more detailed information in the upcoming weeks on our blog and social channels!

      Thanks!
